At long last, on 12th February 2010 Stu was fit enough to be transferred from the Austin Hospital to the Royal Talbot rehabilitation centre. He is currently in the spinal unit at the centre in Kew.

Stu's rehabilitation commences in earnest. There is a weekly program of physiotherapy, occupational training and strengthening exercises to regain his wasted muscles. Stu was unable to hold his head up for more than a few minutes due to the muscle wastage, but we are certain that these problems will disappear as he progresses.

Stu has muscle control and movement in his right shoulder. He has increased control in his left arm, he can raise his lower arm with the bicept muscle but has no control below his wrist. Physiotherapy will concentrate on Stu building these parts to give him greater control.

He has started the familarisation process with an electric wheelchair, he should be moving around independently very shortly. If you visit, make sure you are able to walk quickly so you can keep up with him.
